Catering makes up one of the largest expenses in your wedding budget. However, it is possible to provide your guests with top-notch catered food and beverages on a budget. Most caterers are happy to work with you to create something special, given the funds available. It’s important to be upfront with your caterer about how much you can spend – no point wasting their time, or yours. When meeting with a potential caterer, don’t be shy to ask questions about why their goods and services cost what they do, or to ask them to suggest cheaper alternatives. Always source several quotes but beware, don’t choose on price alone – also take into consideration the quality of the goods and service levels on offer. Getting married ‘out-of-season’ is also smart – catering costs can go up during the busy marriage months of April and May, for example, but may be more reasonable during the slower, colder winter months.
