Pour some sugar on it : Scented sugar adds a subtle perfume and flavour to coffee, fruit desserts, and baked goods. You will need to layer sugar with aromatic items like rose petals, dried orange and lemon peel, or even vanilla beans. Let the mixture rest for a few days in tightly sealed jars while the scents infuse the sugar.

Flower-light: Flowers and candlelight is a match made in heaven when it come to dinner parties and entertaining, but paired together they create tabletop decorations fit for relaxed summer entertaining. Place tea light candles in tall glass containers, and attach a flower to the outside of each, using colour co-ordinated raffia to keep the flower in place. Set each vessel in a saucer of water to keep the flowers fresh.

Recipe to try:Banana Bread

| This easy banana bread recipe contains ingredients that you will more than likely have in your cupboard already – perfect for those times when you’re expecting visitors to pop in but have got nothing in the house except from overripe bananas. What’s more, a piece of moist and delicious banana bread is irresistible to most! |

INGREDIENTS
- Preheat oven to 180°C
- Cream butter and sugar together. Add eggs one at a time and beat well.
- Add bananas and vanilla and fold in dry ingredients.
- Bake in a greased loaf tin for 45 minutes.

- 125g butter or margarine
- 1 cup castor sugar (white or brown sugar is okay though)
- 2 cups flour
- 2 eggs
- 3 large bananas, mashed
- 1 tsp vanilla essence
- 1 tsp bicarbonate of soda
- 1 tsp baking powder

Do not go too shallow, you need to find the core temperature not the radiant temperature, so insert the thermometer deep into the thickest part of the meat, without touching the bone as bones retain more heat than the meat itself and this could result in an incorrect reading.
